Top 5 Foundations of 2014

Image
I am not going to go into much detail on these because I have so many other posts featuring these foundations but I wanted to give a round up of my faves so far this year. 1) Nars Sheer Glow- Now where do I start with this one? I honestly don't think I could find a better foundation than this. It's just got the perfect amount of everything and is the absolute perfect shade. The coverage is amazing and it lasts so long without going patchy. Definitely my top foundation of this whole year. 2) L'Oreal True Match - I love this one because the formula is so thin, so it's not overly heavy and again lasts really long on the skin. There are so many shades to choose from so this is a real winner for pretty much everyone! 3) Bourjois Healthy Mix- Although this is fairly new into my collection I pretty much fell instantly in love with this. The shade is a perfect match for my skin and the finish it gives is really natural.  4) Rimmel Match Perfection- This is comparable

Soap and Glory Solar Powder

Image
After hearing loads about how great this was I couldn't resist picking it up when boots had a good 3 for 2 offer on. Its not as pigmented as I expected it to be but its fabulous at adding that extra bit of bronze to the skin that is very very needed. The 2 shades are wonderful when the brush is swirled around and swept over the cheeks as the lighter shade has a slight shimmer running through it which creates a lovely highlighted glow. The darker shade is matte and so can be used as a contour so this is pretty much a 3 in 1 product. Have you tried this bronzer? What did you think? Lots of love, Son x

HD Eye and Brow Palette

Image
I got this as a gift from my wonderful friend Oonagh from Thebeautystudent here  and I couldn't be happier. Brows are definitely my thing at the moment! This palette is perfect for every different brow colour and the pigmentation is just right to make your brows look perfectly filled in but super natural. There are 4 shades ranging from a super light blondey colour to a dark ashy almost black shade. It also comes with a double ended brush which does the trick fabulously. There is a waxy product as well to ensure it stays put throughout the day. I'm just so happy with the entire product and it's so handy that it can also be used as eyeshadows so that all of the shades are in use. What are your fave brow products? Lots of love, son x

Christmas Nails

Image
Red nails are compulsory for Christmas, they can honestly change a look completely and are so festive and gorgeous. This OPI one is the perfect true red and the formula of OPI's polishes are always the best! They last super long without chipping and they don't take forever to dry which is a definite pet hate of mine. I will be pairing this with a sparkly top coat most likely  et   voila ! I obviously couldn't not put some chocolate in the shot as it is Christmas, especially Lindt mmmm. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas day! Lots of love, Son x

Lip Combo

Image
This pair is perfect complimenting a natural make up look to add that extra something. The Maybelline Color Drama lip pencil in the shade Nude Perfection is super moisturising and long lasting. It's fab for creating that perfect Kylie Jenner lip look. Also this Soap and glory Sexy Mother Pucker lip gloss in Pink Apricot is so tingly and again lasts ages on the lips. I'm so happy with the look that this lip combo achieves. I have been wearing it loads as I think it looks lovely and natural and enhances my natural lips perfectly! Lots of love, Son x

Winter Skincare Saviours

Image
Particularly in the colder months our skin seems to banish itself of all moisture, as soon as I step out of the shower I can feel my skin tightening and I need to rush to my saviours to plump up my face back to life.  Facial oils , I wrote a blog post on the Bobbi Brown facial oil here , but recently I have been loving this cute samples of the tarte maracuja oil and the Josie Maran oil. I use these after slathering on my serum and they are really lightweight and sink into the sink super fast. Primers , I know this isn't so much a skincare item but it has been an essential step in my morning routine for prepping my skin for make up. This borjois one brightens and adds a last it of moisture sealing in all of the skincare process and prolonging make up. Lip balm , cracked, flaky lips are definitely not vogue this season, or any actually, so using a proper good moisturising lip balm can make all the difference. I am enjoying this elemis ultra conditioning lip balm at the mo an

Chelsea Boots

Image
Chelsea boots are seriously in at the moment and to be honest are a staple piece for anyone's wardrobe to be worn almost all year round! I was extremely lucky to be given this pair from Jack Wills by my boyfriend about a month ago and I couldn't be happier! Chelsea boots are so versatile to wear in winter with a super cosy outfit for chilling or a dressy outfit if going out. There are so many lovely pairs on the market but none of them tickled my fancy quite like the Jack Wills ones! I personally just think Chelsea boots are just so convenient and stylish and they just add something a bit extra to an outfit. Lots of love, Son x

Drugstore Eyeshadow Faves

Image
I'm not an avid eye shadow wearer I must say, and will mainly just rock out the eye shadows for special occasions or when I feel like I need a bit of added oomf to my make up and quite frankly only when I can be bothered, which I must say isn't too often. Anyhow I do feel like I can decipher good from bad pretty easily and there are some eyeshadows in particular I tend to lean towards when in need of a quick fix. The Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadow s (£4.99) are a real saviour, an all in one. A quick swipe of one of these across the lid, a bit of blending into the crease and you're good to go! They also last for yonks so are good for all day/ evening events when you really need your make up to last. The L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Mono Eyeshadow s (£5.49)are heaven in powder form, they are so silky smooth and creamy and a dream to work with. Again these are fabulous on their own or layered with other shadows to create different loo

What I'm Burning - Mulled Spice

Image
Christmas is the time for all things cosy and warm inside, this means rocking out the Christmassy candles. This is the Mulled Spice boxed candle from Laura Ashley which is currently on sale for £10 here . Its description is "Our beautiful boxed candle is infused with a seasonal fragrance that mixes sweet almond, mellow orange and delicate wintry woods with the spicy warmth of sweetened cinnamon, rich woody cloves and smoky vanilla." It is honestly the most comforting, warming festive candle I have found. I love how sweet it is and how long the scent lingers for. And I will definitely be repurchasing this candle after this burns down in not too long I'm sure! What is your favourite winter scent? Lots of Love, Son x

Batiste replacement?

Image
Batiste's dry shampoo is pretty much everyone's cult dry shampoo, am I right? And even though I don't think it's the best for my hair I have been making excuses and making myself believe that its the only dry shampoo that works. Until I came across this Aussie dry shampoo in boots and I had to give it a try. It's so much lighter in texture and application and doesn't leave a grey powder in your hair. It absorbs all the nasty grease from laziness of lack of washing (also makes your hair smell gorgeously fresh) and does exactly what I would want it to. I think I may be hooked for good! Lots of love, Son x

Christmas Party Look Drugtore vs High End Products

Image
Christmas is fast approaching us and I wanted to create a festive make up look perfect for Christmas parties. I also know that not everyone has the disposable income to spend on mega expensive beauty products, so I thought I would give a drugstore and high end option for each step.   Step 1) Priming -   Laura Mercier Foundation Primer In Radiance Bronze (£29).    Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer (£10.99) Step 2) Foundation- Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation ($38) Bourjois healthy mix foundation (£9.99)  Step 3) Concealer- Laura Mercier secret concealer (£19.50) Maybelline age rewind concealer (£9.99) Step 4) Brows- Anastasia Beverly hills brow wiz (£17) Soap and Glory Brow Archery (£10) Step 5) Eyeshadow- Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (£38) MUA Single Eyeshadows (£1 each) Step 6) Eyeliner- DHC Liquid Eyeliner EX-(£16) L'Oreal Superliner (£6.49) Step 7) Lipstick- Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Lipstick (£22) Bourjois Ro

Let's Talk Deodorant

Image
This is a bit of a different post today, I'm sorry if you find this a weird one. I just couldn't not share this with you guys. TMI ALERT, I used to sweat a lot! whether it be scorching hot outside or bitterly cold, I would always end up sweaty and I really hated it. Until I found this. This is the only deodorant that I have found to actually work for me and keep my underarms dry all day! The smell is also a massive enticer, as unlike most deodorants I have tried in the past, this doesn't choke me up with its powdery chemically smell. The application feels a bit weird at start as you have to turn the little notch and a white cream comes out the top which you smear on under your arms. I like this as I feel like I can monitor how much product I am putting on and compared to spray on deodorants this is a life saver. I think I have probably over killed the topic of deodorants now, sorryyyy! Excuse the picture as well, I took it on my phone and yes I am in my fluffy red dressi
